KEY PLANTS
Miscanthus sinensis ‘Undine’ is a vigorous grass, providing almost year-round interest. It copes with light shade and grows to 2.1m.
Molinia caerulea ‘Moorhexe’, or moor grass, is tough and adapts to both dry and damp conditions. A low-growing (90cm), clump-forming green grass, it has long flower spikes.
Melica altissima ‘Alba’, or Siberian melic, prefers an open, sunny position, and is a self-seeder. This leafy, upright grass grows to 1.2m, and will flower again if cut back after its first flush.
Calamagrostis x acutiflora
‘Karl Foerster’ is a tall, upright grass. It grows to 1.5m, and, for best effect, should be planted in large blocks. macra is a low-growing (75cm), long-lived plant that forms dense clumps and will grow even in deep shade if the soil is sufficiently moist. Good as an edging plant.
