Don’t stop your festive decorating at a tree. Take style inspiration from these displays of seasonal greenery

-

Think beyond traditional fir trees and holly wreaths to bring even more of the great outdoors to your Christmas decor – the result will be magical.

CENTRE STAGE

An eye-catching floral display in a statement container, such as this stemmed planter, makes a beautiful focal point on a festive table. this arrangement is by Bloomsbury Flowers. Find a similar decorative planter at Petersham nurseries.

HEAVEN SCENT

aromatic evergreens such as eucalyptus and fresh herbs make wonderful decorations as they release their delicate fragrance. These pretty wreaths were created by florist aesme. a rule of thumb when making wreaths is to use long-lasting foliage and flowers.

TALK OF THE TABLE

These showstopping wreaths all use cool tones of white heather, lavender and silversprayed maidenhair fern to bring the outside in. ‘To make the large chandelier wreath we created a round frame structure using floral foam cut to shape and taped to secure,’ says Wild at heart’s Nikki Tibbles, who designed the installation with aron Gelbard’s bloom & Wild.

WALL FLOWER

decorate a sconce with sprigs of foliage, perhaps adding a flower or two. Vary the size, texture and colour of the leaves for interest. either trim back stems to fit, or wind flower wire around the sconce to secure stems in place. oka has a wonderful selection of faux flowers and foliage.

FRAME OF MIND

one of the most important elements of a festive interior is the dining table, so embellish the entrance to the room with a striking garland. Choose foliage with a small and delicate leaf to ensure a dainty look. This real garland was a bespoke commission by aesme. The White Company is a good source of artificial buys.

ENCHANTING DETAIL

Shimmering metallic baubles and snowflake decorations hung on natural branches make a charming festive idea for a hall or bedroom. a contained colour palette of green, white and silver ensures sophistication. Source pretty baubles from neptune. the wallpaper is Florencecourt by cole & Son.

TIED AND TESTED

a cluster of green foliage tied with a ribbon makes a simple but impressive alternative to a door wreath. Shown here is asparagus fern, but evergreen stems such as spruce, ivy or eucalyptus would be equally effective. Find opulent ribbon at VV Rouleaux.
