Tell us about yourself.
Founded in 1999, Adelphi Paper Hangings in Sharon Springs, New York, is an artisanal producer of block-printed wallpapers. The patterns are drafted directly from original documents to maintain historic accuracy; the papers are hand-printed using methods, materials and techniques employed by 18th- and 19th-century printers. Our collection is available in historically appropriate shades, as well as colourways created for contemporary interiors. All papers are printed to order; this allows us to offer custom colouring.
How would you describe your Instagram account?
We use the account to highlight the process of block-printing wallpaper, a technique very few companies practice any more. It’s always a bit magical to set a wood block, loaded with paint, onto paper and end up with these historic patterns. The account has also been useful to introduce new patterns, while still in the development stage, as well as feature installation photos.
