CAR CONTROVERSY
Sir — I read with interest your news story about electric cars (5 October). In my experience, I find that most motorists are very
good at slowing down when they meet a horse on the road, and certainly as soon as I hear a car coming, I take avoiding action, tucking myself into a gap or a gateway.
However, with electric cars, there is very little warning as they are almost silent. And I can understand why some horses would be spooked by them if they appear quickly around a corner.
Manufacturers of this “car of the future” should be aware of the dangers they are creating.
