Trudie Bullick’s ‘Mr Consistent’, aka Furst Dance Of Greschurch, won his fourth class in as many outings at novice at Field House.

The horse was bought as an unbacked three-year-old after Trudie switched from eventing to dressage.

“I had wear and tear on my knee, and eventing takes so much time that I decided to try competing between the white boards,” said Trudie, who fits the riding in around her full-time job in the police.

“He’s an amazing little horse. When you teach him something, he has a think about it and nails it the second time. As soon as we’ve finished our summer qualification, we’ll move up to elementary and I’d love to do a couple of mediums before the end of the year.”

Gemma Pinson and her homebred Spitfire won two out of two at Bold Heath, including the PSG despite throwing a few one-tempi changes in what was his first outing of the year.

The Santana gelding is out of Debonnaire, who competed to advanced level with Steph Croxford before being sold to Gemma, with whom she only did four tests before being injured.

“She left us two lovely foals, though,” said Gemma, who won the advanced medium title at the 2016 north-west regionals with Spitfire.

Former stallion Westhills Jasper B won the inter II at Kingswood with Lindsay Poxon in the saddle. Just two contested the class, the other being Serena Gordon with Aronique, but it took collectives to separate them, Lindsay winning with 40 to Serena’s 39.5.

It was a first inter II for Lindsay, although the 16-year-old Jasper B, by James Bont out of a Jochem mare, has competed to grand prix in the past.

“There’s room for improvement but he tried his hardest,” said Lindsay.
