Gaoth triumphs again
SAM and Jacqueline Wharton’s remarkable Exmoor Gaoth has won the breed society’s performance award for a record seventh year.
The 16-year-old native worker specialist, still the only Exmoor to compete in the 133cm division at HOYS, has qualified three times for the NEC final and recently took his fourth RIHS ticket. He has also contested flat breed classes, horse agility, hunter trials, pony racing, mounted games, local dressage and gathering ponies on Exmoor; he even carries Jacqueline’s three-year-old daughter Elsie on the lead-rein.
“He’s one in a million,” said Jacqueline. “His main love in life is jumping, though: fast or slow, big or little, he doesn’t mind.”
