BOYGOJUMPING lived up to his name by nailing every obstacle in the conditions race with George Hiscock on board. En Passe looked to be his only threat coming into the home straight, but a fantastic leap at the last fence sealed the deal and Boygojumping won by 12 lengths over Trueflyingcolours.

“He is electric over a fence,” said George. “I knew around the last bend that I had plenty of horse left, so I gave him a squeeze and he found even more gears.”

George Hiscock carried on his success by winning the maiden race aboard his father’s horse, Doctor’s Differ. This win wasn’t so easy for the jockey as he had to chase down Mrs Trout, who had shot 10 lengths clear from the start and remained there for most of the race. But by the final turn

Mrs Trout had faded and a battle for the lead commenced between Dragon De La Tour (Will Biddick) and Doctor’s Differ, with the latter coming out on top and Emergency Speed coming through for second.

“We bought him cheaply from Ascot sales and he had just come from hunting in Ireland,” said George’s girlfriend Charlotte Brown, who trains the horses with him. “I was a bit worried by the frontrunner [Mrs Trout] taking such a lead, but the ground is in Doctor’s Differ’s favour and he jumped very well today.”

George’s luck ran out in the men’s open race when Marky Bob failed to start. Kazlian unseated Luca Morgan at the third fence and the remaining three runners looked as though they were just schooling round as the pace was so sedate. Caid Du Berlais eventually won it for jockey

Will Biddick.

“That absolutely went to plan. We finished in one piece, I got a good feel of him before Cheltenham and we won,” said Will, who has recently become engaged to top showjumper Harriet Nuttall.

WIN RAISES SPIRITS

TRAINER Janet Ackner was having a stressful day after Anolysse Moriniere fell in the first race and Golden Doyen pulled up in the second. But her luck changed when De Boitron won the conditions race under Kinna James-Thomas.

“I have been so busy dealing with my other horse [Golden Doyen, who has slipped the tendon off both hocks and will have six months off before being reassessd] that I didn’t see much of this race,” said Janet, “This horse has been a star for me and this win has cheered my day up significantly.”

Last season Aikideau dominated most of the races she entered, but she has yet to find the same form this season and faded into second in the ladies’ open. This paved the way for Bistouri D’Honore to win for the Maverick Partnership, jockey Harriet Tucker and trainer Mike Felton.

“The plan was not to let the field get away, and to jump the fences,” said Mike’s wife, Lucy. “Harriet rode to the letter and it’s great for the whole team to win.”
