TALKING POINTS
A ‘GOLDEN TRIANGLE’ OF WINNERS
THERE must be something in the water in one particular patch spanning the Hampshire/Wiltshire border — the top three in the young riders’ individual class are all based in a “golden triangle”. The winner, Charlotte Dicker (pictured, below), is at the family’s Catherston stud while Anna Jesty and Dylan Deutrom are riders for Anna Ross’ Altogether Equestrian at Cholderton and Matt Hicks’ Hurstbourne EC respectively.
AN INSPIRED TASTE IN MUSIC
GARETH HUGHES’ instructions to Tom Hunt for Briolinca’s new music pogramme were for music that was “up-to-date”. As a result he and Briolinca danced to a Paloma Faith remix and a Little Mix track. One of the tracks included was found by Gareth when he was listening to music in the gym, so he obviously doesn’t switch off completely from his horses while working out.
THE SHOW MUST GO ON
EIGHT nations competed at Keysoe, judged by a cohort of international judges. Sympathies must go to the Keysoe staff who have not had the best of luck with their shows this winter. The December High Profile show lost its third day and for a while it looked like this CDI could be in jeopardy as the “beast from the east” roared in over Bedfordshire. Credit goes to all the judges who sat for hours in the freezing cold, the runners and stewards and, of course, the horses and riders.
