HANKEY WINS WITH FIRST RIDE ON OAKEN EDDIE

CHESHIRE-BASED Hayden Hankey nailed intermediate section M with his sister Hayley’s Kannan gelding Oaken Eddie. Hayley has ridden the nine-year-old up to intermediate herself, but handed the reins over to her brother just two weeks ago.

“Ultimately, he’s with me to sell,” said Hayden. “We’ve had a quick cross-country school and been out showjumping, but Hayley has given him a fab grounding so he was ready to go. He’s very talented so finds it all easy.”

The nine-year-old picked up just two time-penalties around Captain Mark Phillips’ course.

“It suits me and it suits my horses,” added Hayden. “The team here do a brilliant job. The event gets better every year, so all credit to them.”
