A promising six-year-old recorded his first elementary success.

Victoria Maw won her first elementary aboard Belli Blue, one of her “colour coded” horses, at Bishop Burton. The Belissimo M six-year-old is out of a Sandro Hit mare and is being aimed at young horse classes.

“My small tour horse is called Bon Rouge CH, and is also by Belissimo M, so I decided to stick with colours when I named Belli,” said Victoria, who is on the British Equestrian Federation Excel Talent Programme.

“I love Belissimo horses as

I just seem to click with them. We bought Belli as a foal from his breeder Maria Burczyk in Germany and imported him as a three-year-old. We’ve given him time to find his strength and he was really confident in this test.

“He has a great attitude to life and likes to do everything from hacking to jumping. He’s a brave but sensitive ride who can try too hard as he wants to give you all the world at once.”

Eventer Ben Hobday won both elementaries at Todburn on Jane Chambers’ Shadow Man, whom he describes as the best horse he’s ever ridden.

The eight-year-old was having a tune-up in preparation for his first three-star at Ballindenisk.

“He was relaxed and worked well,” said Ben, who also had his stable star Mulrys Error competing hors concours with stable jockey Sebastian Roldan as part of the horse’s prep for Badminton Horse Trials.

“Sebastian is going to take the ride on Mulry after Badminton so he’s brought him here for a play today, so he can get to know his quirks. Dressage isn’t Mulry’s favourite phase!”
