Farewell to dressage sires

-

THE 2012 Trakehner stallion of the year has died, aged 20.

The elite dressage sire Connery (Buddenbrock x Karos As) has 12 licensed sons among his offspring, including Imperio: former Bundeschampion, reserve world young horse champion and Germany’s Rio reserve team horse, who was also crowned Trakehner stallion of the year 2016.

The Westfalian stallion Peking, 17, has also died. The chestnut, by Polytraum x Paradox I, collapsed after covering and is reported to have died of an aortic rupture.

Despite his jumping breeding, Peking was successful in dressage, competing at grand prix with Germany’s Anja Wilimzig. He has sired four licensed sons and five state premium mares.
