CLEAN SWEEP
BALLYNAHINCH producer Rachel Moore made it a clean sweep of wins in the three novice mountain and moorland (M&M) sections. She rode winning small Langfield Pantalaimon (Dartmoor), Connemara Hazelrock Cruise and large breeds winner Lunesdale Dan Mathews (Fell), or Dan as he is known at home.
In the championship, owner Zoe Bell rode Dan to take the tricolour, while Rachel stood reserve with Claire Lacy and Danny Flynn’s Hazelrock Cruise.
Zoe bought Dan as a yearling from Bert and Carole Morland in Cumbria and the six-year-old black gelding has been a consistent winner in flat and working hunter classes.
“I only get to sit on him now and again, but he’s what I call a ticktock pony who gets on with his job,” said Zoe.
A day later, Rachel again teamed up with Dan to win the Festival 133cm M&M working hunter class.
“He’s a fab pony who finds jumping so easy, so we may try some HOYS qualifiers,” said Rachel.
