THE OTHER CHARLOTTE

-

SHE has the hottest name in dressage, but Charlotte Fry caused a stir of her own at Bolesworth, finishing third behind Olympians Carl Hester and Richard Davison in the freestyle on just her second senior grand prix appearance. Her ride, Dark Legend, is a Zucchero x Tango 10-year-old, owned by Charlotte and the Van Olsts, with whom 22-year-old Charlotte is based in Holland.

“Lottie is definitely one to watch,” said Carl, who rode alongside Charlotte’s late mother, Laura, on British teams. “She has the temperament and she’s got feeling. It’s lovely to see.”

Charlotte also triumphed in the five-year-old class with the Van Olsts’ exciting stallion Inclusive, with whom she returned — along with his sire Everdale — for a masterclass with Carl and Anne Van Olst the following day.
