Emma Rarity was on fire at both Tushingham and Field House.

- By JO PRESTWICH

Emma’s first win of the week came at Field House with Sapphire

Hit, with 71.94% securing the elementary 40. Two days later, the nine-year-old mare rolled up at Tushingham to win both elementary tests to complete her summer qualification. She is owned by Ken Parkinson and the plan is to carry on training her up through the grades.

“Ken owned the mare in partnership with his wife Janie, who was killed in a lorry accident,” explained Emma, who trains with Sarah Probin. “It makes everything Sapphire Hit does extra special.”

Emma was double-handed at Tushingham, also winning both prelims with Debra Docker’s home-bred Rubin Royal five-yearold Royal Rendevous.

“This was her first ever test, her first ever outing and, dare I admit, her first time between white boards — and she was absolutely brilliant,” added Emma. “Ultimately she’s for sale, but we’ll carry on getting some mileage with her.”

Although Suzannah Offley won the novice 22 with an impressive 72.76% with Cliffhollins Mystry, there were few smiles to match that of bronze section winner

Jess Finney. Jess, 11, was also the bronze winner of the following novice 38 with the former Horse of the Year Show mountain and moorland first ridden pony Georgian Dante. Jess has had the ride on the 17-year-old gelding, by Rotherwood Spycatcher x Llandyn Adda, for the past four years.
