‘HIS FUTURE WAS UNKNOWN’

-

ADVANCED medium winner Sandro’s Storm wears a drop noseband as a result of bone cyst surgery.

Owner Hannah Bown noticed a large lump under his jaw and “Stanley” had surgery to remove a bone cyst from his mandible (jaw bone).

“He had always had a small lump that the vets thought was harmless but when it kept getting bigger we had it investigated. After X-rays and CT scans, Tom Hughes at Liphook Equine Hospital operated to remove it. He had never seen it in the jaw before, nor had anyone he spoke to," said Hannah.

“Stanley’s future was unknown as the vets didn’t know how the jaw would react to the surgery, if the cyst would come back or if it would fracture during his recovery. He had six months off but we haven’t looked back. A scan this year showed it has filled in with bone and shouldn’t cause him a problem.”
