‘THE RULE BOOK IS CLEAR’

-

LOCALLY-BASED Lizzie Harris sealed her love affair with Burghley when her ultra-versatile Wild West (pictured) won his first SEIB R2R qualifier here, collecting a Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) ticket for the third time on the same spot.

However, the class was not without incident as the judges’ original choice, Sofia Scott’s L’Amiral David, was stripped of his sash after refusing to stand in the presentation line-up.

“It was a great shame but the rule book is clear,” said ride judge Jordan Cook. “These horses absolutely must stand when required and we gave this one two chances to do so.”

The second ticket went to Devon-based

Donna Bamonte with Valentine Jak. This will be Jak’s sixth and final appearance at HOYS, where his previous best result was fourth in 2015.
