PONY CLUB PRIDE
Sir — With time to kill before returning to university for my
second year, I watched Burghley on TV, waiting for Pony Club updates from my area, Area 8, which was competing in the showjumping competition. This year we’ve enjoyed huge success at the Pony Club championships.
It’s occasions like Burghley that make me feel proud of my Pony Club associations, knowing that many British riders on the international circuit come from similar beginnings. And it was particularly exciting to see half a dozen riders at Burghley who once competed for Area 8, including Piggy French and [Horse & Hound blogger] Simon Grieve, who I spotted proudly wearing his Pony Club badge in a television interview.
I have been a Pony Club member for 16 years, and seeing riders like Piggy and Simon at the top of their game is testament to the solid foundation the Pony Club has played in their success.
I hope this incredible charity stands the test of time, and continues to educate and produce quality riders from all disciplines to represent our country. Lydia Sida-Page Harleston, Norfolk
