‘HE FLEW ROUND’

-

AMY OSBORNE bagged one of the most lucrative BE100 sections of the season when she and Walter Tate headed the Yorkshire Challenge at Frickley Park (2). With £1,000 and free British Eventing (BE) membership on offer, the section attracted 35 starters and was hard-fought, with less than one penalty between the top seven.

“I would have been happy with a top-15 finish,” admitted Amy, who bred Walter from a mare called Clonky, who was given to her mother to hunt, but injured herself while team chasing. Clonky also bred Walter’s full-sister, Miss Brodie, who is competing at CCI3*.

The two championship tracks were beefier than the regular BE100 and BE90 courses, the latter of which was won by Beth Clegg and Temple Ellie.

“I knew the course would be big and bold,” said Amy. “But Walter was brilliant; he flew round.”
