EMMA-JO SLATER rarely leaves without a win, and she took day one’s 1m open class on the Verdi mare Verloka WP Z. Emma is used to the horses she rides for Kim Barzilay being sold on, but even for them, three days was quick.

“I bought her from Rowland Fernyhough at the weekend, brought her here on Tuesday and she was vetted and sold the next day,” explained Kim. “I wish selling was always that easy!”
