GETTING THE WORKLIFE BALANCE RIGHT
HORSES are a hobby for Ecuadorian rider Ronald Zabala Goetschel (64th), who has a life insurance company in Ecuador with 350 employees and describes himself as an entrepreneur.
The 51-year-old rider rider put his improved dressage test here down to training with US top-level judge Marilyn Payne. He bought his ride Wundermaske in December 2015 and has installed a smart TV and surround sound in his indoor school to help him overcome his fear of noises.
Ronald is based in Pennsylvania in the summer and Ocala in winter and tries to spend a week in Ecuador every six weeks.
“I wish I never had to go,” he said.
Asked how many horses he has, Ronald replied: “Too many for my budget, not enough for my heart.”
