Showing Stuart Hollings

-

TWELVE years after her last appearance in a show ring, Lisa Hall was persuaded to try the owners’ riding horse class with her home-bred Team Harvey-produced High Treason (Archie).

To her total astonishment, she won — having borrowed riding boots and a jacket from friends. They then stood owners’ champion, which led to the Leeman overall supreme. Here, a well-executed show saw the pair finish joint fourth, scoring a nine and two sevens.

“I very nearly bottled out of doing any of it,” Lisa revealed. “I kept wondering how on earth I’d let John Harvey talk me into it. By the time the overall supreme arrived

I was absolutely terrified, and it was only after a couple of glasses of wine that I found the courage to have a go — I did actually enjoy it, though.”

Ironically, it was eight years ago to the day that Lisa advertised Archie for sale. “Fortunately for me, no one wanted him then,” she joked.
