CUT TRYON SOME SLACK
Sir — It’s always easy to criticise, but I do feel the armchair critics of Tryon International Equestrian Centre should hold hard.
As part of the recent Pony Club tetrathlon (news, 9 August), my daughter competed in Tryon’s main arena. We went to support and were mightily impressed with the facilities. True, there was some construction work going on and the indoor arena looked like a giant sandpit with diggers in it, but the cross-country course was in perfect condition. There were also some excellent sand arenas, great stabling, fantastic hacking facilities, and a terrific range of shops and restaurants.
Therefore, let’s give Tryon a chance. It’s being marketed as a mega resort which will have top facilities for horses, riders and supporters, and also be a major asset for the local community. Penny King Malmesbury, Wilts
