Sir — I, like so many people, am struggling to come to terms with the loss of Tim Stockdale.

John, my late husband, and I first met Tim in the early 1990s when he’d come to Church Farm Stud to teach and help with the working hunters. The teaching was easy to understand as well as being fun, and we were fortunate that in 1992, Tim rode Bawn

Boy for us in the working hunter championship at Wembley.

They qualified for the evening performance. However, the fun began when we had to source top hat and tails from other generous riders. He looked fantastic. We legged him up and sent him off into the main arena, Tim looking left and right, making sure he wasn’t the cause of leg pulling from his showjumping mates.

This is just one of the great memories of one of the nicest people I have ever met. God bless you Tim, you’re the best. You will be so, so missed. Sue Rawding Newmarket, Cambs
