BROTHERS DO A ONE-TWO
TWO colts stood out in the yearling section A class, which was not surprising as both were by Blanche Montana and out of Cwmmeudwy mares. The winner was Cwmmeudwy Bonwr (pictured), owned by Rod Lewis from Llandysul, with Eleri Jenkins’ Cantre I Do in second.
“I gave Eleri an opportunity to pick a mare from my stud as a wedding gift two years ago and she selected Cwmmeudwy Ionawr,” said Rod. “At the time, ‘I Do’ was in utero and this is Eleri’s first home-bred section A.” Bonwr ended up reserve section A champion to Idyllic Glamorize.
When Dona Curie, Winona Myers and Monica Nelson from the USA visited the UK mid-summer on a mammoth tour of 20 or so Welsh mountain pony studs, they selected five to purchase. One of those was Blanche Montana who will soon leave Wales for Minnesota. His influence, however, can live on in these two sons of his.
