TWO colts stood out in the year­ling sec­tion A class, which was not sur­pris­ing as both were by Blanche Mon­tana and out of Cwm­meudwy mares. The win­ner was Cwm­meudwy Bonwr (pic­tured), owned by Rod Lewis from Llandy­sul, with Eleri Jenk­ins’ Cantre I Do in sec­ond.

“I gave Eleri an op­por­tu­nity to pick a mare from my stud as a wed­ding gift two years ago and she se­lected Cwm­meudwy Ion­awr,” said Rod. “At the time, ‘I Do’ was in utero and this is Eleri’s first home-bred sec­tion A.” Bonwr ended up re­serve sec­tion A cham­pion to Idyl­lic Glam­or­ize.

When Dona Curie, Wi­nona My­ers and Mon­ica Nel­son from the USA vis­ited the UK mid-sum­mer on a mam­moth tour of 20 or so Welsh moun­tain pony studs, they se­lected five to pur­chase.
