The joy of golden oldies

“THERE is life after 15,” says Clare Frost, founder of Senior Showing and Dressage Ltd (SSADL). “Our series prove that people are realising an animal isn’t finished at 15, 20 or even 30 years of age. We have animals that have qualified for Olympia in their 30s who are still winning in mainstream showing — it’s a hot contest.”

Clare’s words will be familiar with many owners of senior — or veteran — horses, who know just how much their horse still has to give on the competitive circuit. And if you have a veteran hankering for the limelight and you’re wondering where to start or which championship to aim for, check out these options.
