PRICELESS!
GRAHAM FLETCHER’S opinion (30 April) reminded me of my rookie reporter days.
I was at a show watching the main showjumping class when an older gentleman sat down beside me. On learning I was there on behalf of H&H, he asked what I thought of new columnist Graham Fletcher. I replied that I thought his columns provided a wonderful insight into the discipline.
Ironically, the class was won by Graham and after he’d been presented with his trophy, he called out to my companion: “Hey, Dad, good to see you!” I turned to see Fletcher senior grinning.
“Well, I wanted an honest opinion,” he said. I have never forgotten that priceless moment!
