“I’M NOT SURE I WANT TO GIVE HER BACK”
HANNAH BROADHURST and Cashing Shadows (pictured, right) were the runaway winners of BE90 section B at Forgandenny (3), finishing on their dressage score of 25 – a clear five-plus penalties clear of their nearest challengers.
“‘Blue’ is my mum’s horse. She bought her to do dressage as a four-year-old three years ago,” said Hannah, who is studying primary education at the University of Glasgow.
“My horse, with whom I have competed up to BE100, injured himself during lockdown, so Blue has stepped up to the plate. It works well as Mum exercises her while I am studying. I’m not sure I want to give her back, though!”
This was a first BE90 win for Hannah, whose aim is to eventually compete at novice.
At Munstead (2), Jo Mair recorded a first win with the 15hh Connemara Kilbrien Chris (Little Eddie) who is owned by her employer, Nigel Collins.
“Nigel bought Little Eddie [so called because there is also a bigger Eddie on the same yard] from Martins Irish Horses last year to hack, but when he asked me if I would compete him, I jumped at the chance. He’s quite green, but he’s the sweetest little thing to ride,” said Jo, a Kentbased freelance instructor and rider.
The pair finished on their dressage score of 27.3 in a BE80(T).
