TWO young prospects found favour in the respective horse and pony supremes that each offered £500 prizes.

Producer Jessica Ely was proud as punch of Caroline Saynor’s impressive grey middleweight Moylough Melody who, at only her third show, went through the card to take home the generous prize pot in the horse supreme. Bred in Ireland by Patrick Hoare, the five-year-old Irish Draught mare joined Jessica and her sister, Rebecca, last November.

“The plan was for her to stay and do the season but due to the situation she went back to Caroline and then returned to us six weeks ago,” explained Jessica.

“She’s a dream horse to do. She’s a big girl, standing at around 17hh, and she seems to keep growing. She’s still got maturing to do; pure draughts do take their time. But we’ll wait for her as she’ll be very special.”

Team Ely also took the mini M&M spoils with Rachael Cooper’s Blackhill Impulse, ridden by nine-year-old Sophie Cooper.

“He’s a saint of a pony,” added Jessica, who has produced Impulse for the past five seasons. “This is Sophie’s first year off the lead-rein and her first championship win.”

Lucy Glover piloted her Connemara stallion Castle Kestrel to the pony supreme. The fiveyear-old has already notched up several victories in novice classes and some top placings as he steps up to open level.
