EARLY BOOKINGS FOR HICKSTEAD 2021
COLOURED horses and ponies contended for 2021 Royal International tickets at the British Piebald and Skewbald Association’s summer show held at Arena UK (19 September).
Champion was Christina Gillett aboard her own plaited horse Sinfonie (Flo, pictured). The eightyear-old by Semper out of Caprice was bought two seasons ago from Martin and Michaela Wood.
“She was quite a late starter,” said Christina. “I wasn’t looking for the horse at the time but I liked her athletic movement. She was second in three HOYS qualifiers last year, which was a blessing in disguise as she wasn’t quite ready. We’ve done some dressage with her and she’s come a long way.
It’s bizarre as Flo resembles my former top show mare, Nijinski Derma, in so many ways.”
Ami Miller stood reserve on under-153cm plaited victor Awesome II. The gelding is produced by Jo Bates and is in his first season of partnership with Ami.
Winning animals also taking home deserved qualifications were Randalstown Rival (Olivia Maxwell), Red Warrior (Roanna Hamilton), Rag ‘N’ Bone Man (Rachel Leek) and Hopgarden Hanky Panky (Tabitha Oliver).
