EQUINES’ ROLE ON CLIMATE CHANGE
WELFARE charities have co-hosted an event focusing on working animals as part of New York’s climate week.
World Horse Welfare and The Donkey Sanctuary ran “Working animals and climate change – in disaster preparation and relief while leaving no one behind” on 22 September, discussing how working equids are “particularly relevant” after natural disasters.
“While climate change affects everyone, it will be most acutely felt by those whose lives are so closely intertwined with the land, and working equids have long been a means of sustainably adapting to and shaping that land – and will continue to be. So it is essential they are considered when devising policy,” said World Horse Welfare CEO Roly Owers.
