Cooking up a storm
THE Essex & Suffolk Hunt has recently launched a hunting-themed “recipe book with a twist” called Covert To Covers, which contains more than 150 recipes supplied by the hunt’s members, subscribers and farmers.
With the majority of hunt fundraising events being cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions, supporters were looking for alternative ways to raise funds during lockdown.
“The idea for a recipe book was born from the need to raise funds, with inspiration from new recipes being circulated during lockdown via a chain email and a desire to encourage people to cook for the good of their health and for fun, too,” explained joint-master Bridget Chamberlain. “We sent out a request for contributions for a variety of categories including family favourites, chocolate recipes, five-minute meals and hip flask recipes, and were not disappointed – the response was fantastic.”
“The editor has taken a fairly liberal interpretation of the word ‘recipe’,” continued Bridget. “As in the title, there is a play on words throughout and the spaces between recipes have been filled with quotes and sketches by the well-known artist Freddie Paske and the young followers of the Essex and Suffolk.”
The 126-page book is available for £15 (plus £5 p&p). For more details and an order form, contact: bridget@berewykhall.co.uk
