“HE WAS BEAUTIFULLY BEHAVED”

-

INTERMEDIATE A Kind Of Magic (Nico, pictured) and Ella Wheeler jumped to win their class and galloped to land the open working hunter pony title at the British Show Pony Society Working Sports Pony Show at Vale View EC, Lincs. While there were the usual open classes with a stunning course designed by Rachel Turner, competitors could also try their hand at arena eventing and make use of Vale View’s impressive outdoor surface and water complex. Eight-year-old Nico has been with the Wheelers for four seasons. “I always enjoy Rachel’s courses,” enthused Edinburgh university student Ella. “They’re challenging but fair and fun to ride. It was only Nico’s second open intermediate and given the difficulty of the course I was just pleased to get round in a relatively smooth fashion.

“It’s been a frustrating summer as we were hoping to step him up into open classes but haven’t been able to with the cancellations. Despite having barely been out he was beautifully behaved all day and I’m so excited for next year.”

Emily Hingley and her prolific 153cm campaigner Boyne Fred were given the nod to take reserve.
