“WHEN the wheels come off, you keep going,” said Emma Busby, whose journey with SJL Doc Holliday is an inspiration for all amateurs. Emma credits trainers Andrew Gould and Gary Hoult for recent progress with her 12-year-old Jazz gelding, a 72%-plus advanced winner at Quob Stables, Hants.

“Doc knows the tricks, but he’s no schoolmaster,” said Emma, who has persevered to tackle his tension and spookiness. “I snuck off to Quob without telling anyone, for our first advanced. Things just came together – Doc was supple, submissive and on-side.”
