NEW CHAPTER FOR M&M PRODUCER
YOUNG native specialist Lauren Brill celebrated her move to a new base with a red-letter day at the Chiltern and Thames native pony show. This was Lauren’s first outing since moving to a 15-box yard at Bromson Stud in Warwickshire.
“It’s been quite a stressful time for us but we’re all sorted now,” explained Lauren, who has her own separate set of stables at the established dressage yard. “I always say the best things happen for a reason. I’ll be doing all my production from here and we have some fabulous facilities.”
Her open ridden champion was Lucinda and Jill Stapleton’s Castle Comet-sired Connemara Chilham Pearly King (pictured). The six-year-old was contending his first open class. Bred by Vanessa Compton, “Roger” won the Picton novice final at the NPS summer championships in 2019 and is entering his second term partnered with Lauren.
“He’s the nicest person; he doesn’t know how special he is,” said Lauren. “He’s a sensitive soul but when he’s on form he’s just outstanding.”
Lauren also won the novice small breeds on show ring debutant Feldons Red Kite. Lauren backed the five-year-old Dartmoor last year and the opportunity to buy him recently cropped up.
“We decided to take him out to see what we’re working with and he certainly delivered.”
Finally, Natalie Pastor’s four-year-old home-bred New Forest Langorra Ginger Port also netted his in-hand class.
