TEAM Rowley kicked off their season with a bang, winning five races across two meetings. Fouryear-old Kyntara, by Kayf Tara, headed the four- and five-year-old maiden at Bishops Court on his debut run under stable jockey Alex Edwards.

“He’s a nice horse and did it well,” said Phil Rowley of the gelding owned by The Mixed Up Partners.

At Maisemore Park the following day, the Rowley’s young horses again proved their worth when landing both divisions of the four- and fiveyear-old maiden, starting with Yeats filly The Player Queen.

“She is a lovely filly with bags of speed,” said Phil. “She was a bit starstruck at the course and had a horse jump into the back of her, so Alex [Edwards] had to shake her up a bit, but she won impressively going away and she will now go to the sales.”

The Wrekin, a four-year-old by Shirocco, headed the second maiden division.

“There was no pace so Alex had to make the running which is a lot to ask of an unraced four-year-old, but he did a good job,” said Phil.

Ten-year-old Wishing And Hoping earned the Rowleys their fourth win when landing the mixed open, again under Alex.

The Beneficial gelding has now won his past four pointing starts as well as two hunter chases.

To complete their winning weekend, another four-year-old by Shirocco, Latitude, bolted up to win the first division flat race.

“He won impressively,” added Phil. “He is owned by the Williams family who own Hazel Hill, so he’s a future horse and won’t be sold.”

Trainer Nicky Sheppard sent out six-year-old Organised Solution, owned by the Herbert family, to land the PPORA club members’ intermediate under Milo Herbert. The gelding now has a 50% strike rate, having won three of his six starts.
