GOOD WEEK BAD WEEK

EYE CANDY

The rather gorgeous actor/ director Channing Tatum shared a video of himself riding, in preparation for a film. Not as into the horsey world as some, maybe he was surprised by the number of people giving him ever-so-helpful riding tips in the comments. Welcome to equestrian social media…

APRIL FOOLS

Congrats to those who saw through our devilish April fool last week. We hoped the names of our “experts” — Dr Phool and daughter April, Mr Nowall and the lovely Kaye Borede-Warriah might have helped give the game away…

MORE APRIL FOOLS

On that note, top prank marks to Baileys Horse Feeds, which announced a new “Matchy Matchy Mix”, the ingredients of which use an “iron-chelation process” to dye manes, tails and legs from the inside. Hats off, good sirs and madams.

RELATIONSHIPS

Many people are rather irked when others refer to horses as half-siblings when they share a sire, rather than a dam. But one took it a step further by describing a horse as a “step-sister of”. So was it the stallion who married twice, or the mare?

RULES

Many readers may be aware that trawling through FEI rule changes is an, er, interesting experience. But having gone through the vast and hugely complicated documents relating to the new EU animal health law… all we can say is, we’ll take an FEI rulebook any day. (Gosh, Ed)

PONIES

Another week, another My Little Pony super-fan, this time with a collection of 4,500 toys, worth about £58,000. “You can’t walk in here and feel sad,” she said of her “pony room”. Blinded by the blaze of colour, possibly, but not sad.
