Indirocco makes winning return

-

TOM ELLIS and Gina Andrews continued their run of good form to land a double at Dingley. Their first win came when eight-yearold Indirocco made a winning return to the track after two years off to win the restricted.

“Indirocco had one run for us at Godstone two years ago and won by miles, but then he unfortunately picked up an injury and missed two years,” said Tom.

“I fancied him here [at Dingley] – he’s a fair horse and his homework has been really good. He might run in a hunter chase now, mostly because I don’t think we’ll get the right ground for him in points this season. If he doesn’t run again this season, I’ll put him away for next season as I think there’s a big race in him somewhere down the line.”

Six-year-old Malinas mare Latenightfumble completed the double when winning The Jockey

Club maiden mares and fillies.

Eight-year-old Diplomate Sivola continued Ben Sutton’s novice rider title campaign when heading the conditions (level two) for novice riders for trainer Alan Hill. The gelding is owned by Ben’s father Nick who is ex-chairman of the Point-to-Point Authority and also rode in points.

“Nick purchased the horse from David Maxwell after David had his bad fall back in the autumn and was cutting down,” said Alan. “Nick thought he would be the sort of horse that would help Ben gain some experience and have a shot at the title. So far, he’s had two wins from two runs.”

Ben is working full-time for Alan and rides out five lots a day.

“Riding out, schooling and galloping four or five every day is helping with his fitness and experience and he has definitely improved,” said Alan of Ben. “He’s learning the whole time and is a useful part of the team – he gets stuck in and is enjoying it.”
