A home goal for Bywater

-

BLUE CHIP Championship show secretary Amanda Bywater ensured her chance to compete at the Hartpury finals when she headed the Lister 1.25m qualifier by a full three seconds on Triple Twist.

“We missed last summer because she had an injury and I’ve been building her fitness back up through the winter. She feels as good as she’s always been and is still enjoying her jumping,” said Amanda.

Twelve-year-old “Chaos”, who is by Outcast, was bought as a five-year-old from her breeders Helen van Heyningen and Mennel Watson and was jumping 1.40m with Amanda before her lay-off.

“She is the most genuine horse I have ever had – I’m having so much fun with her,” she said.

Entries have now opened for the championships, so Amanda is anticipating a busy few weeks in the office, but hopes to be able to keep the mare ticking over.

“Chaos always goes there with me,” she added. “She jumped the grand prix last time the championship ran in 2019. We were the first show to be cancelled in 2020 and then 2021 had to be cancelled as well, so hopefully this year is set to go with a bang.”

Danielle Ryder secured her second Blue Chip qualification with the consistent mare Lapromesse when she topped the Blue Chip Joint RLF power qualifier with the quickest of eight double clears.

The six-year-old, whose mother is a uterine sister to the stallion Escape Z, has been a successful young horse contender over the past two years and was placed at Lanaken in 2021.

“She has had a holiday since Lanaken and didn’t jump until Aintree’s premier show. We then did South View where she qualified for the Blue Chip Karma and the winter six-year-olds,” Danielle said.

“She’ll do newcomers and Foxhunter second rounds and she’ll jump six-year-old
