Shrieve’s remarkable double
One young rider wins two titles in an hour
EVELINA SHRIEVE and Insist TC – known as Terry at home – managed a tight turnaround to win both the Equitex advanced medium silver and Nupafeed advanced medium freestyle silver titles.
“In the straight advanced medium we did a nice, smooth test – it wasn’t the best but I was pleased with how it went because there weren’t any obvious mistakes,” said Evelina. “We took him back to the stables between tests, loosened his girth, ran a damp cloth over him, then I was back on within half an hour for the freestyle.”

“I was so pleased with the music class – we’ve never been in an indoor atmosphere like that before,” added Evelina, who has owned the 11-year-old gelding for three years.

“A lot of our success is down to training with Samantha Thurman-Pickett, who helped me with the oorplan and let me borrow her music.”
Amy Hose also won a double in the silver section on her own
Enrique, taking the Equi-Trek elementary by a nail-biting 0.001% over second-placed Hannah Luesley on Ferdi and Geri Eilberg’s EDH Franklin Rose, as well as the PDS Saddles elementary freestyle.
The elastic eight-year-old by Escolar was consistent throughout both tests, with his
canter work showing particular quality in the freestyle.
“I love riding the music, he’s so con dent in it and seems to pick himself up when he hears it,” said Amy, also third in the Spillers medium freestyle silver.
Amy rode to music by
Elvis, which holds a special place in her heart.
“My mum and my nan, who is no longer with us, were both obsessed with Elvis, so I grew up listening to him and the music means a lot to me.”
Hannah overcame her close loss to Amy to win the Horselight medium silver title.
Reecting on her win she said: “It’s amazing, it makes that second much more manageable – it’s my rst championship win with her.”
