PRESENTS, decorations, food – making your home both gorgeous and welcoming for Christmas requires no little planning and a lot of hard work. That’s why this double issue is packed with ideas, expert advice and clever buys to help take the stress out of the season – with our help you’ll get a chance to share the spirit of Christmas and join in the fun too!

Our fabulous gift guide, free with this issue, has a wonderful selection for all ages and tastes to help you work your way through the present list.

This month’s HB project, Christmas Looks, features six key trends that will transform your home. Choose from rustic Winter Woodland, the deep reds and plaids of Rich Tradition, the burnished golds of All That Glitters, sparkling whites of Midnight Frost, the jewel colours of Decadent Glamour and Scandinavian chic of Nordic Nights to help you create a stylish look.

We’ve also included delicious recipes from two top chefs, The Great British Bake Off ’s own Mary Berry (p185) and 2015 winner, Nadiya Hussain (p190), to provide mouthwatering dishes for a festive feast.

Another celebrity plucked from obscurity to great success is world-famous designer John Rocha who presented a trophy at our recent House Beautiful Awards (see November’s free supplement). Brought up in a poor but loving home, John came to the UK aged 17 and worked his way to the top of the design business. But family matters most to him, especially at Christmas. Turn to p110 to read his style advice and inspirational rags-to-riches story.

From all the House Beautiful team, we wish you a joyous, stylish and fun celebration shared with those you love! Merry Christmas!
