Good storage is essential in a dualpurpose room. Pack away items from your home office in a lidded trunk that can then double as a bedside table when the room is being used to sleep in.
If possible, clear a bit of space in the wardrobe and leave a few empty hangers to make it easy for guests to hang up their clothes and keep the area neat and tidy. An empty drawer would be handy too.
Leave your home’s Wifi password out on a card so everyone can easily get connected without having to bother you when they arrive. This is especially important if you live in a phone signal dead zone.
Keep any of the lovely mini bottles of shampoo, shower gel and moisturiser you pick up at hotels or as samples, and leave them out on a little tray with a note saying ‘help yourself’.
If your home is on the chilly side, as well as making extra blankets available, leave out a couple of pairs of slipper socks to keep toes toasty. Totes has some fun festive designs from £7.
