FIT FOR PURPOSE

-

The furniture you choose will depend on the style of your garden and what you use it for. If you’re short on space and will mostly be using it for relaxed dinners for two, you could create a cosy nook by layering up outdoor rugs, adding a low table and Moroccan floor cushions – this treatment would also really transform a compact balcony. For family Mediterranean-style lunches, a large table with benches and extra folding chairs that can be stored in a shed is ideal. If buying big, invest in teak as it will last and can be left outside in all weathers. Corner sofas are also great for getting maximum use from a patio, but remember that you will need some space to store all those cushions! As well as being practical, you can use garden furniture to add a pop of colour. Fermob has a gorgeous collection of bright tables and seating, or revive an old metal table and chairs with a coat of weather-resistant paint.

Lighting creates mood and means you can stay outdoors for longer. Illuminate the table with pendants, and trees with festoon lights, while ornaments can be picked out with uplighters. The easiest to install are solar powered or rechargeable battery-powered sets.
