The furniture you choose will depend on the style of your garden and what you use it for. If you’re short on space and will mostly be using it for relaxed dinners for two, you could create a cosy nook by layering up outdoor rugs, adding a low table and Moroccan floor cushions – this treatment would also really transform a compact balcony. For family Mediterranean-style lunches, a large table with benches and extra folding chairs that can be stored in a shed is ideal. If buying big, invest in teak as it will last and can be left outside in all weathers. Corner sofas are also great for getting maximum use from a patio, but remember that you will need some space to store all those cushions! As well as being practical, you can use garden furniture to add a pop of colour.
