THE RIGHT KIT

-

Creating a healthy home office starts with having suitable equipment – and setting it up correctly

DESK Choose one big enough for your computer, with room for you to read, write, look at papers, etc. If possible, go for a heightadjustable model so that when you’re seated your hands are lightly resting on the top with elbows bent, and your eyes are in line with the top of the screen. If you have a laptop, consider a mount to raise it to the optimum height. To maximise health benefits, consider a standing desk to improve posture and strengthen your core.

CHAIR It’s worth investing in a good office chair. Look for one that offers lumbar, thigh and arm support, with adjustable seat height and depth. If you find that your legs are swinging when your arms are in the right place, invest in a good footrest to help you sit up straight and maintain a good posture.

STORAGE If you haven’t perfected the art of the paperless office, a mix of trays, shelving, filing cabinets and cupboards within easy reach of your desk should keep all your paperwork under control. Maintain a sense of home by choosing filing boxes and stationery in patterns and colours you’ll enjoy looking at and that blend with the decor of the rest of the room.
