Deciding where to position your workspace is paramount and to do this, you need to think about how you work. Will you have clients visiting? If so, you’ll need a space big enough for an extra chair or a breakaway table you can all sit around. Do you need to keep an eye on the children while you’re beavering away? In which case, consider locating your desk close to the kitchen or living room. Is peace and quiet essential for you to perform at your best? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you’ll definitely need a separate space, such as a room in the main house, a garage or loft conversion or even a bespoke garden room. Whatever space you choose, it needs to be practical and inspiring, allowing you to work efficiently while catering to your health and wellbeing needs. It should be well lit, warm and comfortable, so it’s a place you want to spend time in, but don’t get too comfy – you’re aiming for calming and cosy, not soporific!
