Rather than going for a totally tiled bathroom, why not mix it up with an acrylic panel? Sleek and striking, they look amazing, and are easy to fit and maintain. ‘Glossy acrylic panels are contemporary and stylish,’ says Ian Pattison of Lustrolite. ‘Stronger than glass yet only half the weight, they can be cut to any size on site, and being simple to work with means there’s less chance of expensive mistakes. They can even be installed over existing wall panels for a straightforward and inexpensive revamp.

One big advantage of acrylic panels is that there’s no grouting involved, therefore no need for cleaning with heavy-duty chemicals to get rid of mould!’

Scratch-resistant, they have a hard coating so watermarks and mould simply slide off, and they can be kept in good condition with a wipe with a microfibre cloth, soap and water. They come in a range of colours and will stay looking good for years.
