I’ve always loved keeping up with trends, and even as a child I can remember trying to dress my Barbie dolls in the latest designs. These days, I’m on the lookout for new and emerging trends by analysing what shoppers are searching for, what sellers are making, and what’s happening in the larger retail industry. Prior to Etsy, I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and worked in public relations. My background in fashion has taught me to celebrate the expression of personal style and creativity, and I see my current role as a great opportunity to tell stories.

At a time when so much of our world is automated, our mission at Etsy is to keep human connection at the heart of commerce. We introduce shoppers to unique items handmade or curated by real people all over the world. Buyers can often work with makers to customise their purchase and create something truly one-of-a-kind. When people make the choice to buy from one of our sellers, they’re directly making a difference to someone’s livelihood, while also supporting a creative passion. For me, that’s the beauty of what we do.
TREND ALERT
No two days are quite the same in my job, and I love that there’s never a dull moment! I’m in constant pursuit of new and unique finds, whether that’s unearthing the latest and greatest designs, scouting the best up-and-coming shops, or planning how to showcase the most exciting sellers. I work closely with many other internal teams, spotting surges in what customers are searching for and increases in the types of inventory that individual sellers are adding to our marketplace.
GLOBAL INFLUENCES
I’m endlessly inspired by nature, travel and popular culture – all three help to guide my work. So many beautiful colours, textures and sounds can be seen in nature, and I find that incorporating these elements into my life can inspire creativity. I’m also an avid traveller – I love learning about other cultures, trying out different foods and seeing new places. My travels have deepened my appreciation for the work carried out by our global community of sellers. Keeping up with popular culture is important too, as so much of it affects emerging trends.
CITY LIVING
While I’m a Virginia girl at heart, I now live in Brooklyn. I’m lucky to live close to Prospect Park, one of the best in New York City, and head there every Sunday with my husband and dog for a bike ride or workout. My home is filled with plants, crystals and photographs of my family. I always have a candle burning, too – I love Mizu’s botanical soy jars; its Palo Santo is my favourite. Home should always be a sanctuary. My number one rule? Comfort!
