IS FREESTANDING FOR YOU?
Love the look of the freestanding baths featured this month? Here’s some essential know-how from bath expert Sally Cutchie at BC Designs
PLAN IT OUT
Think about your space and what style will fit; a generous bathroom can accommodate a standalone bath in the centre of the room. In a smaller room you may need to consider a slipper bath or placing it against a wall.
MEASURE UP
Smaller baths are around 1500mm and larger ones measure up at 1800mm. Check your available space to help you choose what size bath fits and also to ensure it can be carried through your home. Factor in whether you’ll need additional space for plumbing too.
WEIGH IN
Consider the weight of the bath. Baths made from cast iron and other metals will weigh much more than those made from acrylic. Call in a builder or structural engineer if you’re unsure about your home’s structure.
