GROWING FROM SEED

Helen stocks her cottage garden by raising hundreds of annuals and perennials from seed, and in spring every surface of her conservatory and greenhouse is covered with seed trays. When she plants them out in the beds, she never wastes an opportunity to poke extra seedlings into path edges and corners, wherever she can find a tiny space for them. To cover any losses, she always keeps back some seed to sow direct and recommends this strategy to anyone just starting to grow in the same way.
