Expert guide
‘Pink and green work so wonderfully together as they replicate the colour combinations found in nature’, says Charlotte Cosby, head of creative at Farrow & Ball. ‘Simply look outside to learn which colours harmonise.’ Here’s her advice for perfect pairings…
1
The natural combination of pink and green is calming, restful and suitable for most spaces. Sitting opposite each other on the colour wheel, they also offer maximum contrast to give a gentle energy to your rooms.
2
When choosing your shades, opt for colours that have a similar weight for a cohesive feel; for example, a soft sage green and a pale peach pink. Alternatively, you could go much deeper with one shade so that it almost becomes a neutral backdrop to the other, lighter highlight.
3
It’s important to consider the light your room receives, and the atmosphere you wish to create. South-facing rooms are often filled with warm light from dusk until dawn, so you can either maximise this with red-based tones, or offset by choosing colours with cooler green pigments.
4
For north-facing rooms, the light tends to be cool and gives rooms a moodier atmosphere. You could lean into the cooler light by embracing slightly deeper and warmer tones of olive green and plaster pink for a comforting feel.
