Anal­y­sis of Leonardo da Vinci’s paint­ings and sculp­tures sug­gests that he suf­fered from ex­otropia, a dis­or­der that causes one eye to turn out­ward slightly. It is thought that the con­di­tion may have helped him switch be­tween 3D and 2D vi­sion when ob­serv­ing his sub­ject and paint­ing on the flat can­vas.
